The month of April, Month four of the race, went by very fast. Team Adelphoi, spent the month in Costa and were in charge of finding new ministries for Adventures in Missions to potentially send future teams to. The first week we did a lot of research, contacting ministries, and eventually created a schedule for the rest of the month. We visited around ten ministries in two weeks and traveled all around Costa Rica. It was a very busy but very rewarding month. Along our travel around Costa Rica we had the opportunity to see and be apart of many different ministries. It was great to see all these different ways of conducting ministry but that each one had the same purpose and goal, which is to serve others and spread God’s word and love. Below are some of the things we were able to help with during the month.
A medical/youth outreach – Ministry: Connexion in
Connexion hosts outreaches in communities throughout Costa Rica that are in need.
Skate park ministry- Ministry: Concrete Jungle in Puerto Viejo?
The couple that runs this ministry are great people who live life with the youth of Puerto Viejo and just love on them. There is so much power in the way that they simply spend time with these kids and show them good role models.
Ministry: Mighty Rivers near San Bosco
We were able to help dig some gardens and help around the farm.
Ministry: Faithful Servant Missions (FSM) near San Ramon
This ministry focuses on educating the children of the community. They also have a church and allow a safe place for kids to be. The time at this ministry was special to me because I felt a good connection with the kids and some of the staff. I had the honor of giving my testimony the day we arrived at FSM for a youth night they were holding. The ministry expected around forty youth to show up but God brought double that amount. Around eighty youth showed up that night to eat, listen to the testimonies, and to worship. God was there touching the lives of several youth.
