Its been weird to go from the last two months of being in jungle locations to now be in a remote desert town near a huge salt flat. (with my computer not working, at a small internet store, where I cant find the grammar buttons 🙂
But a change of pace is good, it seems the only constant in the world race is change…and being willing to accept positive change in your life.
This past tuesday we helped one of the local churches with their retreat, they delegated the event to our ministry teams.
God used me to do a message to the men of the church with aid of an interpreture.
And I guess thats why Im writting, the message was on the role that believers have in God.
It seems that at one time or another we are all caught up in trying to do things to make ourselfs better.
I myself get caught up with thinking that my performance in doing things makes me more valuable…or that If I have higher education or an awesome Job I will have more value.
If I marry a beautiful woman and raise an awesome family, then I will have things figured out…
Though all the above things are good, and I still desire to do well and excel in all areas of life,
Those things dont define me…
For the Believer (those who have accpeted Jesus as their personal saviour) there is more to life.
It starts with simple faith in that Jesus paid for your sins on the Cross and rose from the dead…
As we come to faith, we are adopted in to the family of God, God views us as his children (John 1:12)
And he says something most important:
“You are valuable, I am proud of you son (daughter), It doesnt matter what you accomplish in this life or how you failed in the past you are new and you are mine”…
And I think this is what everyone is looking for, to know they have value, and that inspite of failure they are loved.
But the neat thing is to know that the God of the Universe feels this way about his children.
I may fail a thousand times, but regardless Im Gods child, and he is there with arms open to lead me home.
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Saviour I encourage you to search…
The Gospel:
We all have sinned, and need a saviour, we cant get to God by our works.
Jesus Christ came, died for our sins, and rose from the dead, thru believing in Him we can have salvation.
Romans 3:23 talks about how all have sinned (see Psalms 14 also)
Romans 6:23 talks about the wages of sin, and the gift of God – Jesus paying for our sin
Romans 5:6-8 talks about how Jesus Died for us while we were still in sin (you dont clean up God meets you where your at)
Romans 10:9 talks about how if we believe in Jesus Christ we will be saved
Salvation is a free gift, but not cheap…
There is no magic prayer just an honest cry,
“God I know Im a sinner, Jesus died for sinners, Jesus died for me, please forgive me. I acknowlege you are God, that you came to earth died for my sins and raised from the dead and ask you to come into my life and change me”
