Dominican Republic Review,
We arrived in Dominican Republic February 1st, having debrief in Santiago for 5 days.
Debrief is a period of time for the teams and people to check in with a mentor, coaches and leadership on how they are doing and how the last few months have gone.
We arrived in Lajas -Puerto Plata- February 6th and have been working with a ministry hope4DRnow.org since then.
We have the entire squad of 45 people and two squad leaders with us (7 Ministry teams in all). This is unique, because outside of this month, travel days and debrief times we most likely won’t be with the entire squad.
I have enjoyed getting to know the other people on the squad, and working in a variety of ministries here.
Our ministry teams have rotated between the following roles:
1- Teaching english
2- Prayer walk
3 – Grounds work – Manual Labor
4 – Work Duty – making food, cleaning, doing laundry (hand wash)
We have also been involved in two of the local churches. My spanish is coming slower then hoped, please pray that i continue to step outside my comfort zone to learn more.
We have one free day a week, last week we went to the beach, today people are going hiking (3 hrs) to a cave – not me 🙂
(We’re in the jungle in Lajas and its been raining frequently, you can see the cloud coming it sprinkles then down pours for a few minutes then its gone)
We are winding down ministry and are grateful to pastor Ruben and his family for their hospitality and devotions with us.
We head out to Bolivia next thursday Feb 27th thank you for your thoughts, prayers and patience as I haven’t had much wifi this month 🙂
FYI: One of my team mates is working on our recap video for this month, i will try to post a link to her blog when it is ready.
My computer is not working I will also be in remote towns in south Bolivia so it May not be possible to update blog soon
