Why Do I run the World Race?
It’s weird but the best way to explain is to back up 10 plus years,
I was in college at a Campus Crusade conference. That conference they talked about pledging one year of your life to full time service to the Lord they called it the “millennial pledge”. I signed the pledge and went on with college and life.

For years I ignored that pledge, and yet one day I prayed “God give me a heart to love people as you do”
In the past few years I believe God has been preparing me to share the gospel with people and to serve those in need.
I’ve been blessed to travel to Mexico in 2010, 2011 and 2012 to share the gospel (with aid of interpreter) during the YWAM Mazatlan carnival outreach. It was in Mexico at carnival that I can remember being in a crowd and thinking all these people need to know Jesus as savior.
Like a fisher man watching a school of fish pass and only being able to grab a few, the verse struck me “The Harvest is plentiful, but the Laborers are few” Matt 9:37-38
So I prayed that God would send missionaries, to minister to people who speak Spanish, little did I know I would be part of that. (Isaiah 6:8) I don’t speak Spanish at present, but have always wanted to learn…I took 3 years of it in high school and been on several short term Mexico missions trips. But I need to be immersed in it.
This June, God used a friendship to show me how to love like Christ and point me to my first Love -> Jesus Christ.
I was then aware of two missions sending organizations.
I met with two friends Mari and Annie to discuss World Race and at the end of the conversation, Annie asked “which missions trip scares you the most” I said the World Race “She said apply for that one”.
The fact is to leave all comfort and rely on God and not know where you are going to sleep or eat or have a restroom is scary…but it’s where I want to be… outside my comfort zone in surrender to the Lord.
I run to keep a promise long deferred and almost forgotten so I may know God deeper and his heart for others. Eph 3:16-21
