Dear Blog Readers,

While it may not seem like it, this blog is still active. Promise. I haven’t actually written a blog entry since June, but a lot has been going on in my life. So it’s about time I start filling you in:

I spent most of July venturing through the Deep South, without internet access. The highlight of this was our squad’s training camp in Georgia, which turned out to be a very intense week packed full of cultural and ministry skills training. During this time, we were intentionally broken down and stripped of our baggage to learn who were called to be and how to sustainably pour into others.

A lot happened to me during that week, and I will write a detailed follow up soon. I am excited to share more with y’all (part of my vocabulary now) about my squad, team, and camp experience! So stay tuned.

Also, here are a few other blog ideas in the works:

  • This summer I have been living at home with my family in the San Juan Islands. The island lifestyle has been doing such an amazing job of preparing me for the race. Seriously.
  • In my last blog posts, I unpacked the idea of adventure and wrote about how working with children has been meaningful to me. I want to tie this same theme into what I learned from meeting the Wadoni tribe in the Amazon.
  • Also, I used to have a crippling computer addiction, so I am looking forward to exposing the emptiness from that and bashing time-wasting idols like Facebook.

As I’ve hinted in the past, I love to write, but I’ve also been guilty of not writing. So blog readers, from now on I promise to write twice a week to keep you updated and get in a good habit of writing for the race. If my writing interests you or you would like to stay posted, please subscribe to the link at the left. For those of you that do subscribe, another blog will be up soon!

So where am I now?

I am back at home for three more weeks before launching to Africa!

My excitement has been increasing ever since training camp and I am very enthusiastic for the opportunity to serve in 12 countries. Yeah, I know the World Race is only advertised as 11, but magic number 12 is the USA. This year will change me as a person and fully equip me to do the work that I am called to do here. Only God knows what that is, but I am stoked beyond belief to learn what that is when the time comes.

The World Race is not just an upcoming trip or one-time deal; it’s the beginning of something greater in my life that I am not yet able to understand. I am looking forward to seeing how the year unfolds and would love to share that with you on this renewed blog. Will you join me?
