April 2017

Dear whomever it may concern

I hope you are doing well. If you are reading this letter, that means that you’ve been a part of my life in some way, shape, or form. I have the opportunity of a lifetime and I wanted to share it with you. I have officially been accepted into the World Race Gap Year Program. What this means is that I will be taking a year off of school, and taking a trip over the span of nine months to six different countries. This is something that I have felt strongly called to do by God. I want to take this opportunity to mature as a person and in my relationship with Jesus Christ.

As I said before, the trip consists of nine months and six countries. The trip is scheduled to leave in early September and arrive back home in May. Over the course of the trip, I will be visiting Guatemala, Nicaragua, Swaziland, India, Lesotho, and Nepal. This, however, will not be a vacation. Most of the trip I will be showering from a bucket. My sleeping arrangements will consist of my sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and tent from my backpack. Not to mention everything that I take has to be packed into one backpack which weighs less than 50 pounds.

The one thing I would love more than anything is support. Prayer is going to be an important part of this process. I wouldn’t be going on this trip if God didn’t want me to but that doesn’t mean it will be easy. Also feel free to stay connected with me. I will have a blog that I will be using prior to and on the trip in which you can stay updated on what I’m doing. There is no guarantee on how the wifi will be but I should be posting around once a week. Feel free to text, call, or email me prior to the trip if you would like to talk or ask questions because I would love to answer.

One other way that you can support me is through donating. This is going to be an expensive trip because of the length and variety of destinations. My final fundraising goal is going to be $15,000. It seems like a lot but I am determined to be able to reach that goal. On the back of this letter you will find all of the different ways I plan to reach this goal through fundraising and donations.

Finally, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m so very excited for this next step in my life. It is going to take a lot of faith and strength to push through the obstacles that are ahead of me, but I know that anything is possible with God on my side. For I will go to the ends of the earth and proclaim that He is God.

Fundraisers –

Every dollar given towards my graduation gifts will go directly towards my trip.  Because of my love for worship, on Tuesday, May 23rd, I will be leading a “Night of Worship” fundraiser starting at 7pm at Westerville Nazarene featuring Carlos “Zeke” De La Cruz.  Last, we will have a yard sale sometime this summer and every dollar will go towards my trip from that as well.
