We left San Juan, Dominican Republic at 1am on travel day drove all the way to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We arrived at the airport at 4:30am checked our bags and had time to lay on the chairs upstairs and take a quick nap. Our flight left at 8:00 we flew into Miami around 10:00am and had a long layover so we were able to get a nice lunch at Chili’s. Our flight to Bogota, Columbia left at around 5:00pm and we arrived around 7:30pm. Our flight from Bogota, Columbia to Quito, Ecuador left around 10:00pm and was only 1 hour long. We arrived in Quito around 11:00pm!
Needless to say in my first travel day with the World Race we were in 4 different countries in 1 day: Dominican Republic, The United States, Columbia, and Ecuador! We went over 48hours with no sleep because by the time we got to Quito went through customs and packed into a few buses to the house we were staying at it was nearly the morning.
The next day when I woke up I was amazed at how beautiful Ecuador is! Clouds sit down on the city and the city is all the way up the mountains! It is freezing cold at night but the days are so hot. Elevation here is 10,000 feet and we are on the equator.
This month I will be living in a host home all by myself. Time to brush up on my Spanish. My teammates are living in host homes close by and we are working in a Christian school.
Well wanted to keep you all updated. I will update my blog again soon!
