God sometimes uses my body to teach me spiritual things. I’ve been having heart/chest pains since Feb in Australia. They weren’t frequent or severe, but I knew it wasn’t normal. I thought I would deal with it if it continued. Several times through out the race it would hurt when I did something strenuous like carrying my backpack, but in September it started hurting when I was walking and laying down.

One Sunday, I felt like God was going to use the preacher to speak directly to me and just as I thought he did. Every word out of the preachers mouth was directed toward me. It wasn’t anything I didn’t already know, but it reconfirmed things God was already telling me.
The gist of the message was “What is the status of your heart?” Your heart is a vital organ and the core of your being. In 1 Samuel 16 it talks about Samuel looking for a new king. God told Samuel to GO to Jesse’s house. God wouldn’t tell him who would be the next king until he was obedient and started on his journey. God wanted Samuel to go in faith even though he didn’t give him a detailed plan. Normally details are important to me. I like to know the who, what, where, when, why, and how’s. Sometimes God says “GO” and doesn’t tell you the rest until later.
1 Samuel 13:14
…the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart…
Is my heart like that? Is my heart after God’s own heart? Many times I turn to guys when I don’t know God’s detailed plan for my life. Baggage, sin, and distrust clogs the heart.
How much time do I pay attention to my heart? The preacher gave us an example: If we call God on the phone and say “I need this…guide me…do this…” then we hang up and God is still on the line listening to a busy signal. We have already made plans and became too busy with life to talk to God.
In order for God to show us his will we have to have a healthy heart. I’m not saying you have to be in a perfect place with God and not struggle with things because you will never be in a perfect place. Who knows what God will give us if we open our whole hearts to Him?
God is our heart doctor. What is the status of your heart? Until we give God all of our heart we are not fully His. Let GO! Forget the past and move on. Don’t wait for the complete instructions from God. Be like Samuel God will tell you who the king is or in my case my future, but ask yourself what is holding you back from what God has for you?
