I’m actually in Tanzania headed to Uganda Fri. This blog was written at the beginning of June. Better late than never. After Uganda we are going to Ireland for a little less than a week for the AWAKENING. Then Russia.  Sorry there is no pictures. The internet is ridiculously slow in all the countries we’ve been to.

Deliverance Church Southlands (DCS) is a branch of Deliverance Church Langata and has been established for 2 yrs this September. Their vision is “To establish a community transformed by the truth of God’s word with practical evidence to our society.” Their mission is “To equip and empower believers to love and serve God and His people. “DCS is “A place of transformation.”

Even though poverty surrounds the church, the congregation is rich in joy, love, and hospitality. Each time I go I recognize more faces. We aren’t just a number in the crowd; we’re family. The church is small in size, but huge in all the things that matter.

We went to our first church service and were blown away by the worship and Joseph’s  preaching. The church came alive with beautiful Kenyan voices. As we clapped to the beat and swayed back and forth I was overjoyed to be a part.

Pastor Joseph is a powerful speaker and has a faith like I’ve never seen.  The first Sunday, he spoke about David and Goliath. He said that we are giant killers! Giant killers, I have never called myself that before, but it makes since. Whatever giant that’s in your life you can defeat because God is fighting for you. He said to put on the full armor of God and not to turn your back on  the Devil and run because that’s where you are exposed. You should fight the Devil head on and face your giants.

During the second service we went to Children’s church. We sang and danced and the children learned about Jesus. The following 2 weeks I taught the little baby class.

We feel right at home with Joseph’s family and the church. Praise God we are blessed!
