Expect big, receieve big

Praise Report: Australia

Jamie and Fran’s story is extremely special to me because my family has a similar story. My parents, Mike and Kathy, couldn’t have kids of their own. They tired for several years, but God had a different plan in mind and sent them Faith and I. We were adopted Dec 17, 1986. Jamie and Fran have been trying to have a baby for 2 years and were unsuccessful. They are a wonderful Christian couple and we, World Racers, were blessed to stay with them for a few days in Brisbane, Australia. (I wrote about them in a previous blog “Always enough.”)

Before we left Brisbane we gathered around and prayed for them to get pregnant. I stayed up almost the entire night and wrote them a long letter filled with encouragement and scriptures. My heart was broken for Jamie and Fran. PRAISE GOD!!! We were told they are pregnant! It was only 2 weeks after we prayed! It was so encouraging to hear our prayers had been answered! It’s teaching me to truly “expect” my prayers to be answered and not just “hope” they will come true. I know God “can” answer prayers, but many times he doesn’t answer them the way I want. It’s hard to believe God will answer my prayers when they’re out of my control like my mom being healed from cancer, my loved ones having a deep personal passionate relationship with Jesus and know the freedom only He can give, my finger that I’ve spend over $300 on to be healed from a planters whart, one day to get married (not too worried about it now), my future, my dad being healed…and the list goes on. But we serve an awesome God who wants to give his children good gifts. We just have to trust and believe and he will do the rest!

Matt 7:7
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened
to you.

Phil 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

My previous team’s main ministry was jail ministry. We met some of the sweetest people
there. We built relationships, lead Bible studies, and joined them in worship. By the end of the month we were honored to baptize 12 inmates! I pray that each one grows closer and closer to God and truly dedicates their lives to God.

(I wasn’t involved with this ministry, but Praise God for his goodness)
A new born baby boy named Jason has a cleft lip and palate. It prevents him from eating so
he’s starving to death. After finding out World Racers posted blogs to see if they could raise support for him to have a simple surgery. A man that works at Operation Smile Inc. read Bill and Katie Swans blog and said he just got done with a medical mission trip and was still in the Philippines. He said he would do the surgery free of charge! Praise God for answered prayers. Our God is more than enough! I didn’t realize how sick I was until we were on the bus at 3am. The 2 hr bus ride that
turned into the 5hr bus ride was to say the least one of the most miserable rides of my life. Chills, major diahhrea, cold sweats, high temperature, head ache, nausea?, sensitive skin, and “that time of the month” made the bus ride feel like a lifetime. I was in tears…finally the driver found the beach. I slept and went to the restroom all day and my wonderful friends (Michelle, Kendall, and Ricki) took good care of me. I was dreading the ride home. As we were getting ready to leave Mike (another WR) was feeling a trillion bajillion times worse than I was because he had kidney stone pains. The Racers prayed for a long time for healing. In that moment I knew why I was sick. God wanted me to interceed for Mike. I only felt a fraction of what he felt, but it made my prayers more sincere. I could relate to how he felt.

Before getting on the bus several people prayed that I wouldn’t have pain or discomfort on the ride home. When I got on the bus I instantly felt better! I stood up on the bus and announced that I felt 100% better and that my prayers were answered! The entire bus ride back I felt great! We all took different hours to pray for Mike (an extention of our 24hr prayer for the entire month). I stayed up and prayed for Mike all the way home. Mike went to the hospital a few days later. He is better now! We are praying that God completely heals him!!!

God has done way more things, but those are just some highlights. God is always enough!
