1. Surfed- I challenged an Australian guy named Daniel that I became friends with to pray and read the New Testiment for 30 days and in return he challenged me to learn to surf so I did! Ricki and I also surfed with Xavier another friend. (P.S. I did more than surf I promise)

2. Got stung by a jellyfish…ouch!- While learning to surf a blue bottle jelly stung me and Ricki offered to pee on me, but I declined :).

3. Street Evangelism- We partnered with YWAM a few times and asked God who He wanted us to share our faith with. It was one of THE MOST uncomfortable things I’ve ever done. I like to become friends with people rather than evangelize, but I think evangelism is effective in Byron because the people are so open to share their beliefs.

4. Saw wallabies- We woke up really early to go looking for kangaroos. We weren’t in the outback so we didn’t see that many wild animals.

(These aren’t wild. A world racer took it)
5. Ate kangaroo- Ricki, Chrissy (A german girl we met), and I went out for lunch. I ate a kangaroo burger. It kind of tasted like steak, but more chewy.

6. Went to a lighthouse- It was the most easternly point on the Australian main land, floats on mercury, 2 huge lenses, automatically turns on at night and during bad weather, and panels in front of the lenses make the light shine farther (all the way to the horizon). Anna would have loved it!

7. Swam in the ocean at night with the girls…etc 😉 Girls night! No boys allowed. We kept it classy (do you hear my sarcasm). We bought food and ate it outside of the IGA and went or a swim.

8. Bought a digeridoo- One of the instruments the aboriginies play. It’s a tall wooden instrument that you blow in the top of and it makes a belowing sound. Some have paintings on them, some have designs burnt into them and others are plain.

9. Saw kualas- We saw one in Brisbane and one in Byron.

10.Swam in a tea tree lake- Ricki, Chrissy, and I swam at a sceret tea tree lake. It’s fresh rain water and looks black. It’s sacred because aboriganal women give birth in it. Most tourists don’t know where it is and that’s how the locals want to keep it.

11.Hitch hiked- I told myself I would never hitch, but all the locals said Byron Bay is safe and it was a 45 min walk into town everyday. I met the coolest nicest people. It gave us an opportunity to share our faith in the short amount of time we had. Some people did a hitch hiking ministry and just rode into town and out of town with different people. (I wouldn’t hitch in the States though and not all of Australia is safe.)

12. Swung on a trapeze- We went to a circus and Danny, Amanda, and I swung on the trapeze! I think I’ve found my calling in life…I’m joining the circus!

There were more firsts, but I can’t think of them. This was a month of 1sts!
