Living in Africa for 3 months has been a life changing time for me. In this short time I’ve started to enjoy sleeping under a mosquito net. I’ve survived malaria. I like to carry a headlamp in the evenings just in case the power goes out. I’m used to washing my clothes in a bucket and drying them on the line. I don’t even get mad anymore when I come back to the line and all my clothes have blown into the dirt. Speaking of dirt, it’s hard to tell if my feet are really tan or really dirty because every day we walk around on dirt roads to get where we are going. I love sleeping with earplugs to drown out the noise of the roosters and dogs.
Some of the most amazing places that we’ve had a chance to go or at least drive by are:
Kenya-Great Rift Valley, Lake Victoria, Masai Mara
Tanzania-Mt. Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar Island

Here’s the result of two big rapids for my boat! So much fun!

August brought with it a lot of change for me because the team I’ve been a part of for the last 7 months was changed and I now have 5 new teammates. My new team’s name is Imago Dei. I’m excited to get to know them and have a new group of people to learn from and live with for the next 4 months.
