Hello! Kumusta (pronounced like: como esta) from the Philippines! Apparently the Philippines was a Spanish settlement and although words are spelled much differently, there are many similiar phrases between Spanish and the local language. Who knew?  Well, we have arrived at our first World Race “Debrief” and will spend about 4 days of reflecting, resting, relaxing, and filling back up before ministry starts in the month of March.

I apologize for the gap of time between my last Australia posts and now. I’ve had trouble connecting to the internet on my computer…or you could call it a forced internet fast. Anyway, I’m back and have so much to share…too much for this blog. I’ll just tell you we are here in Cainta, Rizal Philippines just outside of Manila. We are staying at a wonderful ministry facility and the US dollar will buy a lot of stuff here. I mean important things like, chocolate cake (Choco Rumbles), DQ blizzards, and these yummy little meringue cupcake balls! Seriously though, the dollar goes a long way, but the local neighbors around here work very hard for what appears to be a meager standard of life.

Don’t worry though, there is no shortage of smiles and joy in the people. When we walk down a dirt street or even though the malls, we are greeted by most people who pass us either by a wave, a nod, or a kind word. One man came up, said hello, shook our hands, and laughed with joy when I told him I am from Texas. For about 20 cents, you can get a ride on a little moped with a side car and actually 6 riders can fit into one of these if you can believe it!

I’m working on a picture montage to summarize our time in New Zealand and Australia. Expect that to be coming soon!

Love to you all!

Holly

P.S. I’m trying to read the book Crazy Love this week during debrief.  I hope to tell you more about it soon, but check it out if you get a chance.
