Where were we?
We lived in mud huts with the pastor’s family in Ajaa B, sub-county Kwera, Dokolo district, Uganda…basically deep, deep Africa.

What was our ministry?
We taught children in the school located beside our mud huts…if you’re American you are qualified to teach anything!

We talked with HIV/AIDS victims (me and Esther in bottom pic), held a women’s conference, and encouraged church leaders.

We worked with Compassion International and taught children about safety and cleanliness.

We made house visits and preached in several different churches.

What did we eat?
tea, rice, beans, and cabbage…every meal, every day

How did we get around the village?
Apparently every pastor owns a motorcycle!

What did we learn this past month?
We learned how to “suck the milk” from cows (translation – we milked the cows every day for milk tea)

We learned to always be prepared to preach the Word…even if you thought you were just sitting down to eat your lunch!

We learned that when you are sick you eat twice as much as normal and shower at least 3 times a day. And you do not lie down to rest unless you are dying.

We learned that even when you are exhausted and cannot imagine doing anything else, God always pulls through and gives you the strength you need.

Favorite moment from this past month?
Sitting by the bonfire underneath the most beautiful sky ever singing praise songs with the pastor’s kids. I don’t think I will ever forget those nights.
