we have been doing so farin Serbia: Our first week here we met the director of intervarsity which has
since opened the door to many ministry opportunities. We have had meetings with
church pastors, directors of orphanages and schools, and other local ministries.
So lots of meetings and phone calls basically trying to figure out if Serbia
would be a good fit for a future World Race team. In the midst of all this, however, God has put some incredible people in our path.
Last Monday, I found myself sitting in a stranger’s house
participating in a womens Bible study. I’m still not sure exactly how some of my teammates and I ended up there, but we did and it was so good. The ladies
welcomed us with open arms and loving hearts; it was a time to share stories
and learn together. The women at the Bible study are from all over the world,
and each has led such an inspiring life. It’s funny how when you trust in God and
let Him lead you, you can end up in the most amazing places.
homes whom we met in the Bible study. She is opening up her house to us so that
we can do laundry, use the internet, and just hang out. I really wish I could
express to you how incredible it is to just watch God provide. I wish I did
this more back home in the states. Sometimes when you have everything and feel
completely independent there is not enough room for God to do His thing. We showed up in Belgrade with a very small budget, no place to live, and knowing absolutely no one, yet we somehow managed. Being
on the race and having to be dependent on God, my teammates, and complete
strangers has been scary but totally worth it. How else would I be able to say that
one night in Serbia I ended up eating chocolate covered baklava in a diplomat’s
mansion?!? When we let God lead and trust in His provision, He will take care
of us far better than we ever could ourselves.
