Well guys, we’re here! In about 24 hours I will be with my squad preparing launch on the World Race!!!!!
If I’m being completely honest, for a long time I really didn’t think I was going to make it to this point. Jesus provided in some pretty miraculous ways to make this journey a possibility! At the end of November I still needed to raise around $4000 and he made sure I had every bit of that plus a little extra!
It’s crazy how even after He has provided everything I needed, I still struggle with doubting His future provision. Often fear and panic rear their nasty heads and I’m struck with an overwhelming amount of anxiety because 1) I still need to raise about $7,000 2) I still have bills at home and 3) I now have no income. It’s so hard, but I am learning slowly but surly how to depend completely on God.
As world racers, we are required to read Seth Barnes book Kingdom Journeys: Rediscovering The Lost Discipline. In this book he talks about our dependence on God and this is a quote that really stuck with me.
“When we avoid risk or compromise, God doesn’t live through us to the extent that He’d like. He wants us to depend on Him and His resources. To accomplish God-sized dreams, we must jump into situations where we have to depend on Him.”
One thing I know for sure is that at this point of my life I am not avoiding risk and compromise. Abandonment is scary. Leaving everything I know and love is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I know that I’m taking this journey with Jesus by my side. I can depend on Him for anything and everything and that is the absolute most comforting thing I could think of.
