Tuesdays are a special day of ministry this month with Outpour Movement.
On Tuesdays, our team sets out at 8 am on our bikes to ride the 4 km down to the border bridge connecting Thailand to Myanmar/Burma. There is a bank of land along the river that Thailand nor Myanmar can claim.
This land is called “No Man’s Land”
No man’s land…a lawless strip of land filled with illegal activity and people with no country to claim them. These people live in houses made of sticks, leaves, and tarps. There are countless children running around in the dirt, able to receive no education because they don’t have the proper paperwork allowing them in either country. There are drug dealers, human traffickers, and criminals. They are God’s people. They are loved. They are his.
Before the military of Thailand took control of the government May 22nd , every day along these parts people crossed the river illegally by boat to and from both countries. Thailand has since cracked down along its border with military presence and has ceased the operation of boats. This concentrated effort has resulted in little activity along the border compared to what took place only a month ago.
Each week we are intentional in our prayers over this area along the border. We declare truths. We write prophetic words with chalk over the area. We bring joy to the children by throwing them candy. We have spoken word sessions. We feel the love that God has for his people.
One of my favorite things we do each week is walking the sidewalk along the river from the Thailand side, looking across to Burma, and speaking declarations of life over this land, the people, and the governments of both countries.
We declare God’s glory, goodness, and wonder among Burma and Thailand.
We declare God’s name in Burma and Thailand. We praise his name.
We declare God’s light.
We declare God’s strength to this generation.
We declare safety for the oppressed.
We declare a hope and a future for the refugees.
We declare that the kingdom of God is in our midst.
These are God’s people. They may not have real homes. They may be viewed as criminals. They may not have a country to call their own. But they are God’s.
God is fighting for his children. He is fighting for you. He is fighting for me.
Join me in declaring these truths out loud through your prayers from wherever this blog finds you today.
