YALL.
We crashed a wedding and it was glorious. We were at an orphanage next door and we were led right into the tent and I was beyond excited.
We instantly turned heads, because, DUH, a bunch of sweaty, underdressed foreigners are waltzing in between the guests.
We were ushered to the front in order to take pictures with the less then amused bride and groom. But their lack of excitement could not bring me down. I just couldn’t believe I was at a legit wedding in the middle of nowhere freaking Cambodia.
We were sat at a table where we were served exotic foods and ACTUAL cold Pepsi #blessings. We ate back to back mystery dishes that set us so far out of our tummy’s comfort zones, but we feasted nonetheless. I unknowingly ate a piece of meat that had red ants all over it. I came to learn that it is a delicacy and I think I would rather that not hit my tongue ever again.
Then we had to buck up for the bouquet toss and an odd turn of events. One Cambodia tradition is to have the bride and groom stand near their cake as sparklers are lit around them and they are sprayed with silly string. Yep, that is correct, good ol’ silly string all over their fancy outfits.
