I’m currently in Nelspruit, South Africa, where my squad is having debrief for the next 4 days. A few big things will be happening during this debrief. One is that on the morning of the 25th, we will have what we’re calling the World Race Race. For the last few months, some of my squad-mates and I have been training for a half-marathon with the hopes of finding a local race to run this week during debrief. However, since there are no such races being held, we have decided to host our own. I’m excited and a little terrified to run my second half-marathon in 2 days.
Now for the big news: we will be having team changes. We have had multiple months during which we anticipated team changes that never ended up happening, but this time it’s real. I could be on a new team tomorrow. Or the day after. Regardless, at the end of the week I will be on my way to Swaziland for my next month of ministry with a new team. I’m both sad and excited about this news. The last 8 months with my sweet teammates have been greatly transformative and truly unforgettable. We have become a family, and though separation will be a big change, I’m excited to see the ways my teammates and I get to be loved, known, and challenged in new ways by doing life and ministry with different people.
Here’s how you can pray for my squad-mates and I:
-pray that we all go into our new teams with open hearts and willing spirits
-pray for our alumni squad leaders (Ashley Miller, Mason Smith, Grace Treloar, and Liz Davy) as they prepare to go home to America after 18 months on the field
-pray for supernatural energy going into our second half of the race (pray Ephesians 6:19 over all of us)
-pray for PVT, that God would show up in big ways (some of the squad’s parents are coming out to Swaziland for a week to do ministry alongside their racers)
