This past weekend I got to go home, in the mountains of Ga, where my parents live and celebrate my mom, and both of my Brother’s birthdays!  My brother Chris  and his wife Amy have a child who is more precious to me than probably any person (sorry mom)….He is truly God’s gift to my heart! Will is 8 now and is the first kid I ever really looked after, and is truly the reason that I love kids now!  He has a very free spirit and never tells a lie…no matter how bad his actions are, he always comes home and tells his mom the truth.  That child never ceases to amaze me.

Back to this past weekend, during dinner Will disappeared and I decided to leave the grown up conversation and find mr. mischief.  So, I slipped outside and found him beside our little pond.  “Helen, there is a frog in here, I want to catch it.”  he said to me very still but trying to get closer.  Those words were music to my ears….I LOVE catching frogs…probably more than he does.  So there I was, a 24 year old girl in a skirt and nice shirt bending down, very carefully not to get dirty trying to help Will catch his frog.  What a joy to my heart!  Finally, after twenty minutes of cornering Frog Man, named by Will, I got my hands on him and scooped him up.  Will got so excited as I handed him his new friend.  I proceed to say, ” Hey Will, why don’t you go show Granma”  without even a

thought he begins to run inside and plops this frog on the table where everyone else was still eating.  This was hilarious!  As I follow him in I run and grab the frog before he has time to jump.  I found that moment to be so funny and brought so much joy to my heart.

I soon realized that the reason I love to be around Will so much is because he brings out the child in me.  I never hold back when I am with him…giving him wet willies and tickling him to the floor brings me so much joy.

Will, to me, the picture of who we are to Christ.  We are able to run to our Father with our dirty hands, and He so graciously forgives and washes our hands clean.   God wants us to never hold back and love endlessly.  Will IS God’s reminder to me that I am to have child like faith and run to Him.

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not recieve the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  Mark 10:14-15
