I can’t believe this day is finally here. After 8 months of preparation and even more of trying to decide whether this was God’s call on my life, today is the day I leave on the World Race.

I couldn’t have asked for a nicer sendoff. My Mom took off 7 weeks of work to spend with me, my oldest brother drove in from Virginia for my going away party, I was able to spend time with many relatives at this party, and my little sister just surprised me by driving in from school to send me off. My family’s pretty great, huh?

My 47 pound pack is packed. My “day pack” is busting at the seams. It seems I’m ready to go.

Now if only I could figure out a ay to get Mommy in my backpack.

Prayers for safety are appreciated…and prayers for my Mommy. I imagine this will be tough for her.

Love you all!
