What would you say if I told you, “To be someplace you have never been before you have to do something you have never done before!” You could look at that in multiple different ways, right? Like in order for me to be successful in running a business I should maybe go to school and learn how to run a business. In order for you to travel you have to get a job and make money to have the financial support to travel. Or you could take that question to the spiritual side as well, which I did. I will tell you about that later on in this blog. First lets back track a little.

This month has been hard. I have been having a hard time collecting my thoughts and not exactly knowing what to write about or what to even tell you about my month. I have been having a hard time to find words to what I am feeling, to what I am thinking, I don’t even know what I need at this moment from my team to help me. I don’t know how else to explain it other than I just cannot find the words. God wants me to completely depend on Him so He can give me the words when the moment is right. It’s not that I am anxious or frustrated; I actually have a peace about the whole thing, which is awesome and I think God has a sense of humor in these moments. But I believe that where there is peace God is in that. It’s not that I am not learning anything because I am. I just don’t really know what or where God wants me to go next. This is where God reveals dependence on Him. You know the one question I get asked a lot from people? It’s “What are you going to do when you are done the race?” Since I only have 2 months and 2 weeks left of this 11-month journey AIM has given our squad suggestions of where the next step could be. They don’t want us to worry about it too much yet as they don’t want us to be distracted from the race but they want it to be in the back of our minds. This question can either really scare or excite racers. But I am sure you deal with the same sort of question wherever you are at, it just may look a little different. Maybe the questions you are having to think about are: Is this job/ career the right choice for me? What else is God calling me to do? Is this job all God has planned for me? If not, what or where does He want me to go? Questions like these sometimes taunt us. For me, pre-race, I know the one question that taunted me was “Is personal training the right job for me? Is this where God wants me for the rest of my life? But if not where am I supposed to be?

On the race since the question, “What are you going to do after the race?” came about from friends, family and squad mates I have had a peace about it. Truthfully, I have a million and one things I could do or want to do but don’t have a peace about one specific thing I feel led to go yet. But I am very hopeful to not just what the race will look like when its finished but also to what the next couple of months will look like. What else He is going to teach me and grow me in. I don’t know what God is going to teach me next or where He will lead me to or whom He will guide me to speak to next. But I am hopeful that he will show me.

A teammate told me the other day, “To get some place you want to go you have to be willing to do something you have never done!” Are you willing to take risks for the Lord? Are you willing to give all you have to Him? Are you willing to say yes to whatever He is wanting to show/ give you next? If yes, then do whatever it takes for you to get to where He wants you whether that looks like fasting, spending extra time in the word, or waking up earlier to worship Him etc. Now I’m not saying you have to quit your job and go fundraise money to go to Africa… (Unless He actually tells you to do that) What I am saying is God can use you with the job you have right now to bring the kingdom a your workplace. You can do that by loving, caring and showing compassion for those around you, by doing those things you already are showing Gods heart. But if you aren’t already doing those things then maybe your next step is growing in that area. Working for your boss and giving it all you have at your job because you’re not just working for your boss but for God! Maybe your next step is finding a part time job with a non-profit organization or working in your community some how. Anyone can be a missionary! All you have to do is bring the Kingdom to the place you are at! All you need to do is have your heart open to wherever God leads you. But be willing to try things you may have never done!

God Bless,

Heidi 🙂
