“I see music notes all around you. I see you as a worshiper. You will be a leader in worship and your worshipping will bring the presence of God. You are going to be filled with joy while worshipping.” These were the words of prophecy that came from a lady I had never met before.
In Nepal (October) we met up with another missionary group called Iris Global. When they heard we were also in Nepal they asked if we would like to go to there place on Saturday night and worship with them also called soaking. So I decided to go. We were in a tiny rectangular room with approximately 40 people. People were sitting along side the walls along with people squished in any empty space you can find. Someone from the Iris team would lead us all in a soaking session. You would just sit there in Gods presence and worship until you felt like leaving. The doors of the house were open and music would continue to play until you decide to leave. You could stay there all night if you desired to do so.
When people started to leave and there was more room to move around a lady came around and started prophesying over people. One of those people happened to be me! The words she heard from God were, “I see music notes all around you….”. As she started speaking over me my first thoughts were, “You have the wrong person. I can’t sing, or play an instrument of any sort what so ever…!” As I continued to listen she started saying how I am going to be a leader in worship and how Gods presence is going to enter through worshipping. That night I went back to our hostel and started really thinking and asking God about the prophecy that was spoken over me. I started getting quite excited about it. The more I thought about it the more the desire of wanting to play an instrument sounded more appealing to me. God was putting a desire in my heart that I would have never thought I would have been able to do before!
So I told my team leader at the time Stephanie that I wanted to learn and asked her to teach me on our spare time. But time went past and we never did get at it. We were just quite busy for the next couple of months and never had a lot of spare time to sit down for her to teach me. Then our teams got broken off and I never thought much of it that I probably wouldn’t be learning how to play guitar this year.
A week ago, one evening our team was hanging out and Melissa started playing on Kyle’s guitar. She started playing 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman. I then asked if she wouldn’t mind to teach me some cords… and sure enough that night I started playing guitar! I learnt 4 cords that night and was super proud of myself. I even started learning how to play 10,000 Reasons.
Since that night I kept going back to Kyle whenever I had a free moment to ask to play with his guitar. He continually kept saying yes! Little by little I started learning. Then Kyle asked if I would like to keep his guitar for the year! I thought about it for a little bit and of course said yes!
God is continuing to surprise me over and over again. He has showed me through this that He is capable of giving us gifts that we didn’t even know we had. He is a giver. He loves to flower us with gifts if we proceed to obey him. I didn’t think I would have ever come to learn how to play guitar. But the desire has been placed on my heart and I love it! He is using this gift to now give glory back to Him. By playing guitar I am able to worship Him in a new way. I am running with this prophecy and will learn how to play guitar and play it wonderfully so I am able to use this gift for Gods glory. Then someday I hope to be on a worship team allowing God to work in me to lead a bunch of people into Gods presence!
I once had no desire to learn how to play an instrument. Then one night I got prophesied over and God put the desire in my heart and here I am learning how to play an instrument even if I don’t know a single music note.
