So you are probably curious what we did this month as our team had Unsung Hero month. I never got a lot of photos this month since our month looked so different compared to the other months but I hope you are able to enjoy the pictures that I do have. Some of these photos are not mine and are my teammates. πŸ™‚

We started off our day with amad which is intercession prayer for 1 hour from 9am 10am. We would come together as a team at 10am and would then pray for each other would share with each other what the Lord has been teaching us during amad. This allows our team to get on a deeper level with each other as we are able to open up and be vulnerable with each other but this also is able to form unity as a team. We would also prayer about what God had in vision for the what the day would look like because we had no idea where or even how to start.

During amad one morning God was putting on my heart to do a prayer walk. So our team split off into twos and walked down the streets praying for Laos. This little girl came up to us during prayer and she asked us if we wanted corn or this unknown type of fruit she had (it looked like green grapes of some sort but they weren’t, they also came with this weird red type of sauce). So we obviously picked the unknown type of fruit haha. She couldn’t speak English but she ran into our path for a reason so we are praying that God was able to touch her in some way that day!

A contact we found brings HIV children together every year and puts on a Christmas program for these children from 9am to 3pm. We went to help out and prepared Christmas songs (We wish you a Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells), games (musical chairs, hot potato with jingle bells, a game with balloons were you have string on the end of a balloon and tie it around your ankle and try to step on each others balloon), and crafts (we taught them how to make snowflakes). You can see some of the snowflakes hanging on the wall. The day was filled with smiles πŸ™‚ One thing you could really sense here though was the hurt and sadness of these people. They were the sweetest people but they didn’t know Jesus and you could just feel the heaviness of there spirits. Laos needs freedom and as a team this is something we have been praying over them for this month.

The kids playing hot potato!

The kids made some beautiful looking snowflakes!

We met a lady who I am not going to say the name or the organization just to protect it but it was an school that teaches English and she was one of the teachers at the school. Our team got to meet with the director from the school and got put to teach about Christmas to this English teaching school. There were 14 classes. 7 classes were taught from 5pm to 6:30pm then the second session would start at 7pm to 8:30pm. These students would range from 10 years up to 20 years of age. We put two classes together and then as a team we had two people pair up to teach around 25 to 30 students. Allie and I did a word search on the white board then taught them the 12 days of Christmas carol. Along with making christmas cards and writing out “Dear Mom and Dad, I hope you have a Merry Christmas! Love, (there name).” They loved this!

We had some very talented students!

These 5 monks were in our second session class. It was pretty neat since we were teaching about Christmas and all.

This is another English school that the director from the school we taught at also directed. We went to get a tour of the school there were about 150 students who attended this school.

On Christmas our team made candy bags with Christmas cards that said “Merry Christmas, God Bless!” in the inside of the bags. We handed them out on the streets to tourists and locals.

On Christmas day from 6pm to 8pm we also went to the English school that we taught and all the students 300 and all came to have a christmas party at the school. We prepared some games for them to play. (You can see some of the students in the background). We tried to take a selfie with them! haha

The director of the English school is the second guy on the right side. On the left side the girls is a teacher at the school.

This was our source of transportation for the month!! It has two seats so we did give this a try every once in a while haha!

We got to enjoy some beautiful pieces of scenery on our off days so we rented mopeds and we to some waterfalls.

We also go to enjoy the sunset on the Mekong River πŸ™‚ So beautiful!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our team to your home! Enjoy your holidays πŸ™‚

Today was our last full day in Laos. Tomorrow we will be heading off to Thailand for debrief until January 3rd then will be heading to Cambodia! Overall, this month was great as we grew individually and as a team that we wouldn’t have been able to do without this month being as it was. I hope you were able to enjoy the photos and were invited into our month!

Love,

Heidi
