I have seen and got bit by more insects these passed 2.5 weeks then I have MY WHOLE LIFE! These Honduran insects really know how to get to all those hard to reach spots. We’ve seen 4 scorpions, 3 snakes, slugs, a hundred spiders of all sizes, ticks, salamanders, a million mosquitos, and Hulk looking red ants who took every leaf of a 25 foot tree! I had left some banana chips in my tent and yesterday morning, I woke up to hundreds of small black ants eating my chips! They made holes in my tent and were taking out the chips and still had the audacity to bite me! It took me like an hour to clean out my tent and get rid of them all.
These passed two weeks have been so busy. We have done it all; cleaned, organized, colored dozens of coloring pages, braided A LOT of hair, washed dogs, weed wacked, raked, and hoed just about all we could. We cleaned out another house that they had on the property that was covered in bat guano! Gross! The only time I like bat guano is in my mascara! The house looks great now and we were able use it for the youth event this passed weekend.
This passed weekend, we had a camp for some of the youth from our hosts old church. It was awesome! 10 youth accept Christ into their lives! I got to listen to an incredible testimony of ex gang member named Steve who has done a complete 180 and surrendered his life to Christ. He is now one of the only ex gang members to be freed from the gang & has been allowed to continue to live his life in Christ. This never happens, if you want out, death is the only way out but, we have such a forgiving and extraordinary God that He made it so Steve can walk freely among his ex gang members preach to them! We heard one of his sermons and man, you can just tell how on fire he is for Gods word. I am truly in awe of how God can take the worst situations and make them the biggest blessing.
I met an amazing woman named Theresa, she has been living in Honduras full time for about 9 years now. She is 5 feet tall, drives an F-350, she is fearless let me tell you. She does it all; she goes to the prisons to preach (where she met Steve & now Steve is her body guard), she went dumpster diving a couple weeks ago and found 7 babies and has already placed some of them in homes, she works with IHNFA (social services) to find children foster homes, she works with gang members and has earned their trust enough to where she is allowed in the “red zone” where no one is allowed except the gang members. I feel so blessed to have met this woman & see how when you trust in Gods plan, he will take care of you.
The Crowders have been such a blessing to us, they have continued to treat us like family, I ask that you continue to keep them as well as Theresa in your prayers. Pray for blessings, safety, health and sponsors so that these awesome people on God can continue to do what they are doing here.
