The first 5 days in Honduras have been incredible. We have the best hosts who cook us amazing food every day (there goes losing weight the first month here). We have been working with the children who live here & they seem to teach me something every day.

The guys built an outhouse toilet seat, which turned out pretty awesome, the only problem is that there are BATS in the outhouse! On the roof of the outhouse and in the outhouse as well. Its been interesting every time I go in there, I feel like SWAT clearing the room making sure its ok to proceed with my business. They have also been clearing a tilapia plant so that our hosts will eventually be able to utilize tilapia as a means of revenue generation and offsetting grocery expenses.

The girls have been helping with cooking meals everyday for 26 people, helping with homework, coloring, getting manicures, playing games, watching movies and climbing trees (we have it rough).

We have also started to lead a devotional every morning with the kids which we all take turns leading.

Our hosts, who are American missionaries, have been so loving and generous towards us, they are truly an awesome example of when God calls you to do something, he will provide. They moved to Honduras 4 years ago with their 3 daughters and started a children’s home, They’re daughters love living here and are all now fluent in English and Spanish. They were blessed with an incredible farm not too long ago, fully equipped with a house, tilapia plants, coconut trees, cashew trees, mango trees, lemon/lime trees, pineapple bushes,  and even bamboo trees!  They also have dogs and bunnies (who apparently aren’t that friendly). They have big plans to clean up another building they have to make it so the boys stay in one home and the girls stay in the main house. Most of the children living here are bilingual or are in the process of becoming bilingual.

Personally, I feel like I have grown so much in just these first 5 days. I have been tested to step out of my comfort zone like peeing in toilets with bats in them, taking bucket showers outside, not having a plan and just being fluid and trusting God in in control. Its been a dramatic change, but I didn’t expect anything less.

I just ask that you keep us and this family in your prayers. Pray for our health and safety. The family has gotten sick quite a bit while staying here so please pray for them for health. There are seed ticks which are baby ticks that are everywhere especially out in the fields where the guys have been working, and mosquitos (which can carry Malaria) pray that we are free from any bite or sickness.
