I’m still amazed each day that God has special things lined up for me, moments when I get to experience His love and show His love. More and more my prayer is to realize in the moment that God orchestrated it just for me. As we go throughout our day we can see these moments if we just take time to enjoy each moment of the day.
Last Friday when I woke up and I felt renewed and hungry for the Word because of conversations and being poured into the previous day. So I got ready and packed my things up and headed outside to listen to some worship music and pray for the orphanage site we had stayed at that night. I started my day off with God, but had no idea what He had in store for my day.
We had a variety of ministry that was taking place. People were building a playground for the kids, others were painting a mural in a classroom, while others were painting the name of the ministry on the outside of the building, and the rest were playing with and teaching the kids. I ended up happily painting the name on the outside of the building. It was a welcomed change from kids ministry; although, I do love kids. But it was nice to be with a couple of my squad mates to chat and listen to music. God loved me so much He gave the the opportunity to paint and spend time with friends.
Later in the afternoon as we were packing up to leave a few kids were still hanging around. They were playing with little toys and showing me all the pictures that were colored as I sat on a bench outside. Then one of the kids decided to “braid” my hair. All of a sudden there were 10 little hands in my hair and a smile on my face. These kids got such joy in making my hair beautiful. Then a little girl, maybe 3 years old, was climbing over the arm of the bench toward me. So I picked her up and put her on my lap. I tell her just how gorgeous she is. The she starts saying gorgeous after me. I just wanted to love on her and here she was filling my heart because she is so precious. 100% of these kids have HIV. I just felt God wanted her to know how gorgeous she was. So I kept telling her and she kept repeating me. I pray it filled her heart and spirit and she will always remember that she is gorgeous and loved by God.
That evening we headed back home and were ‘blessed’ with pizza for dinner because of all our hard work. But, it’s doesn’t seem like hard work when it all for God. Our night ended with a campfire and marshmallows and there is no better way for God to show His love and appreciation.
So look for the ways God is loving you today and look for the way He is using you to love others.
