Sunday afternoon after a long and amazing day of ministry we boarded the city bus to head back to our base. I stood with other people from my team and warned them that my balance was not the best on busses and I might come tumbling into them. We chatted for a bit, but I kept noticing this little girl sitting right in front of me who looked sad and lonely. Eventually we made eye contact and I said “hola” she responded likewise with a little smile. I asked how she was and her name and she just lit up, her smile got bigger and her eyes began to shine with joy as we talked.
Juliana and I talked the rest of the bus ride, almost 30 minutes, about animals and food and so many other things. This little girl who looked so sad became so animated through a simple conversation. I told her she had a beautiful smile and to always keep smiling. I keep thinking of this simple conversation and I can’t help but wonder if she does as well. I find myself always praying for her and asking God to keep her and guide her. I know her and her family go to church and I know God has a great plan for her and He does for each of His children.
This simple God moment has left such an impression on me. I saw God in her and how our Heavenly Father must light up when we talk to Him. I also felt God’s compassion for her that He has for each of His children and how we must always be on His mind like Juliana is on my mind.
God is wanting us to look for simple conversations we can have throughout our day to show His love and encouragement, to tell a child they are beautiful, to tell a teen they are important, to tell a single mother she is loved. Join me in looking for these God moments.
