Over the past couple days what I have been talking about and dreaming about for a while has been becoming a reality. I have been so excited, sad, nervous and so many other emotions all at once. I reunited with my iSquad Saturday which was amazing…it was like seeing family that you had not seen in a long time with lots of hugs and screams of excitement! In the midst of the excitement I had to say goodbye to my mom and to my fiance was one of the toughest things I have ever done, but it was for a journey that will be worth it.
Throughout the past few days here at launch God has been showing me many things. During worship I was crying out to God to fill me with His peace and joy, but my cries seemed to be bouncing off the ceiling. Then a squadmate came over and hugged me and prayed for me. He reminded me that God wants to give rest to the weary. I realized that I was weary…emotionally exhausted to be exact. So I began to pray that God would give me rest and within minutes my spirit was transformed and reenergized. I love seeing God’s word come to life!
In the middle of all the emotions the question keeps coming to my mind asking if I can really do this. Then the lyrics pop in my head “you make me brave, you make me brave, you call me out beyond the shore into the waves, you make me brave, you make me brave, no fear can hinder now the love that made a way.” God has called me out of my comfort zone to go on the an 11 month mission trip. But He has prepared the way and has prepared me with everything I will need along the way. He makes me brave because I can do all things through Him.
So tomorrow at about 5:00pm I will be boarding a plane to Panama with my squad. My team and I will be staying in Panama City to minister with YWAM. Please pray for us that God would work in us and through us! Our team wants to grow as a community to be open and vulnerable with each other. We also want to grow spiritually in our individual devotional time as well as group devotions and worship so that God will use us in every way imaginable to see salvations, lives transformed, healings, and more than we could ever imagine.
