January 29th was my birthday and my team gave me an awesome birthday party. When I got up the morning of my birthday, Lauren and Allie had made me a happy birthday banner out of paper plates. (Apparently people in Mozambique do not celebrate birthdays much because they had a hard time finding anything.)
And created a card for everyone to sign. (I wasn't allowed to look at anything!)
My team even made me a birthday hat…thank you Wes.
I spent part of my morning reading the birthday cards from home, which was a wonderful gift all by its self.
After arriving at Kedesh, I went to the kitchen to see what needed to be done. I got to spend my morning cleaning the seeds out of bell peppers by hand.
I got rice and beans for lunch which is my all time favorite. After lunch I was not feeling well so I kind of lounged around for the afternoon. We got back to Iris and had rice and beans for dinner, not quite as good as Kedesh's but still better than the greens. At team time we had my birthday party. They had ice cream, cookies, and candles.
I even got a present. My new found favorite bag of chips…Lays Caribbean Onion and Balsamic Vinaigrette.
I ended the night with an all girls session where they sang Happy Birthday to me. Over all it was a pretty awesome birthday…definitely one I'll never forget.
