Most of the time, we have eaten well here. I cannot complain. However, some days the breakfasts aren't so full of nutrition and sometimes they are loaded with dairy, which greatly limits my options.
Last night, I was thinking about how much I wanted oatmeal and fruit for breakfast this morning. I had no idea which team was in charge of breakfast, nor did I have any idea what they intended to prepare. I asked God for the oatmeal and fruit. I'm not sure I asked God for scrambled eggs. I might have, but I do not remember. In addition, we have not had coffee since the first few days and I thought it would be a nice treat to have this morning. I didn't ask God for it though because I had already asked for the rest.
This morning I woke up hearing people discussing breakfast. They were asking each other if their team had already purchased food to prepare breakfast. Apparently, they didn't realize until late last night it was their turn to prepare breakfast and had to leave early this morning for the market to purchase food.
Breakfast was scheduled for 9am. I was talking to one of my teammates who said she was ready for breakfast already and it was only a bit after 8am. The bell rang at 8:30am. I am convinced God had them finish early for her.
I grabbed my dishes and got in line to discover breakfast consisted of oatmeal, and LOTS OF IT, a whole banana for everyone, scrambled eggs, tortillas and salsa (to make a breakfast burrito, which is my favorite!), AND coffee! Really?! God just gave me EVERYTHING I wanted for breakfast, even the items that were on my heart that I didn't even ask for! I could hardly believe it! I felt so loved! I am convinced God didn't remind the team it was their turn for breakfast until late last night just so I could ask Him for oatmeal and fruit so He could, in turn, answer my prayer and then some to show me He hears me and loves me!
God cares about the little things. Ask Him for them, and wait expectantly for Him to answer. 🙂 A few days ago, one of my Squad Leaders, Lizi, asked God for pancakes and that is exactly what we had for breakfast the next morning. God is so, so good to us and loves to give good gifts to His children.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
