Since teams have changed, we needed new team names as well…so I’m now a part of Team Shiloh!!!
At our team debrief it was spoken over our team that we will be “a place of rest for giants”…sounds awesome, in a slightly intimidating way.
Shiloh literally means a resting place.
In the Bible this is where Ark of Covenant was kept until the time of Samuel and where the Feast of the Tabernacle took place each year.
Shiloh is also the place where Samuel grew up. The short version of his story is that his mother, Hannah, was barren. She prayed that God would give her a son and said that if He did she would dedicate him back to the Lord. Well, God gave her a son, Samuel, and after he was weaned she took him to Shiloh and dedicated him to the Lord. He grew up there under high priest Eli and was eventually the one to anoint Saul and David.
Shiloh was known as God’s dwelling place during this time so it was a place where His people came to be in His presence. However, God also pursued Samuel here by audibly calling to him. Kind of crazy, right? Not only could God’s people pursue Him, but He was pursuing them!
Ok, so all of this to say that we see our team as being a place where God dwells, a place where “giants” (or warriors for God, or whatever you would like to call us) are raised up, discipled, and sent out. We also see our team as being a place of peace and rest, for those within our team, but also for those that we meet along the way.
