San ban o (hello) from Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. It has been a really cold month here. It snowed on Sunday and the high for the week is around 30 degrees. The city of Ulaanbaatar is surrounded by mountains, which makes it a very beautiful place.

This month we are working at a church whose vision is to reach young adults with the gospel within the city of Ulaanbaatar and disciple them and equip them to go out to other areas of Mongolia and plant churches. We have also been hosting a game night and English classes at the church a few hours each night. During the week, we go out into the city and get to know new people by inviting them to church and the classes we host at night.

(The above picture is some students we talked to outside a university. The one in the middle could speak English really well.)

We spend time in prayer before we go out and talk to people so we can listen to what God is saying. One day this past week me and some girls from my team went to an area of town where a lot of college students go to school. We met a girl outside sitting on a bench who spoke English. She told us more about the school and we prayed over the school for a few minutes. Before we left this area, I spent some time in prayer asking God to give me a picture or idea of something that I could look for if He wanted me to go up and talk to someone. When I prayed I kept seeing a yin yang symbol. Later in the day I saw a yin yang symbol on the sign of a bank. I noticed two middle aged ladies sitting outside the bank, so I went over to talk to them. Neither of them could speak English so I gave them a card with directions and invited them to church. This is a small glimpse of what our days in Mongolia have looked like and how God can speak to us through anything. Mongolia is a country in the 10/40 window and only 2.2% of the population are Christian here. I know the people here are thirsty for the hope that can only be found in Jesus.

On Sunday’s we have also been helping with the church service. It was encouraging to see some of the older people at church. The congregation is small but they are very bold and filled with the spirit here. Please continue to pray for our squad during the remainder of our time here. We leave for Osaka, Japan in a few days.
