This
blog is dedicated to Shirley Dodge, better known as Granny by her
grandchildren. I wish I had more
pictures but those will come when I return home.

I’ve been wanting to
write a blog about her since I found out about her death, but I couldn’t find
the right words. She was a woman of
faith and was such an encouragement to me. The few times I got to talk to her while on the race were always filled
with words about how proud she was of me. Her health had been fading fast the last couple of years, starting with
her eyes and them moving to her breathings and kidneys, so it didn’t come as a
surprise when I found out that she wasn’t doing well. I prayed for her often hoping that I would
get to see her again before she left this earth, but God had other plans, and
needed her home before I got home.

Today I was watching
some You Tube video’s with Bambi of one of her friends and he did a cover of a
Mandisa song Called You Wouldn’t Cry. You can watch the video here. This song speaks volumes to me, and I
know that I won’t be able to fully grieve losing my Granny until I get home,
but it gives me great comfort knowing that she is with Jesus and out of pain!

Here are the
lyrics to the song:

All
you saw was pain

All
you saw was rain

But
you should see me now

Moments
filled with tears

Lasted
all those years

Disappeared
some how

You
never said goodbye

On
your knees you cry

You’re
still asking why

But blue has never been bluer

True has never been truer

Honey never tasted so sweet

There’s a song in the breeze

A million voices in praise

A rose has never smelled redder

The sun has never been brighter

If I could find the right words to say

If you could look at my face

If you could just see this place

You wouldn’t cry for me today

What
you think you see

Isn’t
really me

I’m
already home

You’ve
got to lay it down

‘Cause
Jesus holds me now

And
I am not alone

Your
faith is wearing thin

But
I am watching Him

And
He is holding you too

And blue has never been bluer

True has never been truer

Honey never tasted so sweet

There’s a song in the breeze

A million voices in praise

A rose has never smelled redder

The sun has never been brighter

If I could find the right words to say

If you could look at my face

If you could just see this place

You wouldn’t cry for me today

You wouldn’t cry for me today

Oh
what may seem like years

Will
just be a moment

Oh
the day will come

When
I’ll show you where you’re going

I
can’t wait to show you

And blue has never been bluer

True has never been truer

Honey never tasted so sweet

There’s a song in the breeze

A million voices in praise

A rose has never smelled redder

The sun has never been brighter

If I could find the right words to say

If you could look at my face

If you could just see this place

You wouldn’t cry for me today

You wouldn’t cry for me today

You
wouldn’t cry for me today

You
wouldn’t cry for me today

You
wouldn’t cry for me today

I know that if I
could talk to her today this is exactly what she would say. I miss her and love her with all my heart but
I know that I will see her again some day!
