This month we are serving with a ministry called Light Force International. This organization runs children’s camps during the summer. They have pigs, sheep, and chickens to help with funding the camp. Here are just some of the things that we have been doing to help get the property ready for the camps to begin.

We started off with the mission of clearing thorns and bamboo away from the fence so we could repaint the fence. This was no small task….

As we would cut away thorns, the sheep would come up behind you and start eating the green leaves from the vines.

After everything was clear, I moved on to a new job…. painting the doors to the pig stalls, the inside and outside of them. So I got the pleasure of being up close and personal (inside the stalls) with the pigs and piglets.

After a few days of that I said goodbye to the pigs and painted random things around the property. Frock, the maintenance man/gate keeper, would find me just as I was getting ready to finish one task and then show me something else he found that needed painting. This has taken a long time because we have had a few rainy days where we haven’t been able to paint.

There is also an obstacle course for the kids that come to camp. Earlier in the month, the poles on the course were all given a fresh coat of paint so now it was time to hang up the ropes and such. I was asked to help put all the ropes and obstacles in place. Those of you that know me know that for the past few years I have been in charge of recreation at youth camps. One of my favorite parts of that job was running the alpine tower for the students. So getting to help set up this obstacle course has been a little treat sent to me from God. It gives me some comforts from home.

Every morning, we also go through one chapter of Proverbs. This has been an amazing start to every day! It has been great to hear what my other squad mates are learning as we study through each chapter.

It’s hard to believe that I am almost at the halfway point of the Race. I’m so excited for how God is going to continue teaching and using me for His glory!

This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent – Jesus Christ.    John 17:3
