Over the last week or so my squad has done some major bonding! We've been talking a lot through our Facebook group, exchanging phone numbers, and sharing prayer requests. It's been so great to begin to get to know these people who I will be spending 11 months of my life with. With that being said, one of the girls on my squad thought it would be fun to use this questionnaire to get to know each other a little better before we meet at camp in July! I thought this was such a great idea and I wanted to share my answers with all of my supporters so you can get to know me a little better as well.

Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Basic Information

Name: Hayley Joy Norfleet

Age: 21- I'll be 22 on June 2nd!

Hometown/Current City: I was born and raised in Clarksville, TN. Currently, I reside in Chattanooga, TN where I have been going to college for the last 4 years.

Current Job/School(if student): I'm taking my last 3 classes this summer, but I won't have a degree just yet! The World Race will satisfy an internship that I need to complete my degree!

Brothers/Sisters: I feel like I need an "It's Complicated" button for this one! I was raised as an only child by my wonderful mom with the help of my incredible grandparents, but my dad has 6 other kids and I've only met 2 of them.

Favorite Things!

Color: Yellow- it's such a happy color!

Movie: JAWS. I know that's weird, but there's something about that movie that I just love! Forrest Gump comes in at a close second ๐Ÿ™‚

Disney Movie: This is such a hard question to answer! I LOVE Disney movies. I'm going to have to go with my top 3: The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers, and Mary Poppins.

Band/Musician: I don't really listen to specific bands, but if I had to say one I would say Elenowen. If you haven't heard of them, look them up! They're amazing. Also, I love country music!

Book: I don't actually read a ton, but one of the best books I've read would have to be Choosing to See by Mary Beth Chapman.

Food: My favorite type of food is probably Mexican. But my favorite family recipe is chicken and dumplings. YUM!

Ice Cream Flavor: Mint Chocolate Chip!

Memory: I would say that some of my favorite memories as a child would be days I spent fishing with my Grandpa! Love that man. Also, Summer2010 was incredible and full of great memories. And the summer I spent in Santa Cruz, CA (2011).

Quote: I've never had a favorite quote!

Scripture: "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord." Proverbs 16:33

Season: Summer!

Sport to play: I cheered since before I can remember all the through my senior year of high school. A lot of people don't consider cheerleading a sport, but I do! Other than cheering, I love softball!

Sport to watch: Baseball!

Sports Team: If you asked me this a year ago I would have said the Philadelphia Eagles. Totally a bandwagon fan! GO BIRDS!

Random Questions!

Best Vacation: Disney World when I was 11 with my Mom and my Mimi! And the trips that my bible study has taken to Panama!

#1 on your bucket list: Skydiving! I absolutely plan on crossing this off the list while I'm on the Race!

What fictional character do you relate most to? This is such a hard, but fun question! Maybe Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. "Tigger is always filled with great energy and optimism, and though always well-meaning, he can also be mischievous, and his actions have sometimes led to chaos and trouble for himself and his friends." Mostly just the energetic and happy part! ๐Ÿ™‚

Things you like to do for fun: I really just love to be with people. So as long as I'm with friends or family, I'm having fun!

Something you cannot go a day without: My contacts or glasses. I'm blind as a bat, y'all!

What is the last spontaneous thing you did? Got a tattoo in South Africa!

Coolest place you ever been: Santa Cruz, CA! Favorite city ever.

What is your biggest pet peeve? When people make clicking noises with their nails. Ha!

Most embarrassing/crazy story you are a part of: Lord knows there are too many embarrassing stories for me to tell! One of the most recent would be from back in December when I was in one of my best friends wedding. We wore floor length bridesmaid dresses and as I was walking down the aisle and up the stairs of the stage I stepped on my dress and lost my footing! I didn't fall flat on my face, but I did a little bit of stumbling!

One word that your closest friends and family would use to describe you: LOUD.

World Race Questions!

Have you ever been on an international mission trip? If so, where? Yes! I actually went on a trip with Adventures in Mission through their Exposure program. A group of 12 students, myself included, met up with a world race squad in their seventh month in South Africa. We were split up among the teams and I spent my time in a little bitty town called Cookhouse which is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It was a great trip and looking back I'm so thankful for the extra preparation that this trip gave me to go on The World Race!

What is the most prized possession in your backpack? Probably my Mac!

What are you going to miss the most? My family and friends. And Diet Coke! I'm an addict.

One thing you HAVE to take with you? My Mimi's fancy camera. I love to take pictures and I absolutely want to document these 11 months!

One touristy thing you want to experience on the race? Gosh, there's so many. Ride an elephant, skydive, go to a safari!

What are you most excited to experience on the race? I'm excited to dive in to all the different cultures. And when I was in South Africa I LOVED learning the language they spoke- so I'm really excited for all the different languages we'll hear. Also, I'm just really pumped to see what God does in me through this experience.

What are you most nervous to experience on the race? I'm nervous about travel days. And getting sick!

What country are you most excited about serving in? Uganda and Thailand!

What ministry excites you the most to experience on the race? Loving on some sweet children and sex trafficking!

What nonessential item do you want to bring in your pack? Probably my straightener or my teddy bear. But I'm not sure either of them will make the cut!

Well, that's me! I hope this has been as fun for you as it has been for me!

I still have a $10,500 left to raise towards the cost of my trip. If you feel led to give please select the "Support Me!" link on this page and follow the given form.

Thank you!
