Team Time-for those of you who don’t know what team time is, it is a time that we get to practice healthy communication and learn about each other.  It is a time where we get to really get down to the nitty-gritty.

Tonight during team time yours truly was in charge.  I was planning on having everyone on my team learn a dance because it just sounds so much fun.  However last night when I was thinking about my team time an idea for another team time came up.  A team time of just worship.  Even though we are missionaries we actually don’t get to have a lot of formal worship time with the Lord, unless it’s in Spanish.

So this is how team time looked: I went around to each person on my team a few hours before and told them to pick their favorite worship song and think about the reason why it is their favorite.  We all gathered in the dinning room and took turns playing our favorite songs.  I wanted to know the reasoning behind why people picked each song because even if you have heard the song a thousand times you can look at it a new way.

Without further ado…..the set list

Melanie

Song: Keeper of My Heart by Kari Jobe

The first time I heard this song I’m pretty sure I listened to it on repeat 10 times in a row. Jesus and I had a dance party while I was doing dishes and I’ve equated this song since then with sweet moments spent with him.

Jordan

Song: Spirit Move by Kalley Heiligenthal

I chose this song because it makes me feel so calm. When we sing it as a squad or I listen to it when I’m reading, I know that the Lord is with me in the moment and in every moment. The line “we are fixed on this one thing. To know your goodness and see your glory” is so powerful because we really are fixed on seeing the goodness and glory of the Lord. It’s so evident in our lives here on the race and at home. This is one song that I’ll sing my heart out to every time.

Alyssa

Song: Counting on God by Desperation Band

I heard this song at a youth retreat when I was 15. It was the first worship song I ever actually danced to rather than just standing still and singing. I fell in love with the message of the song that weekend, and every time I’ve heard it since I’ve felt it really applied to my life

Joey

Song: It Was Finished by Bryan & Katie Torwalt

The first time I heard this song I got chills up and down my spine, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days. I love Easter, and getting to celebrate Jesus paying the final price and defeating death once and for all. This song is super powerful to me because of some specific word choices. Because it is Finished. And we will get to spend eternity in the perfect presence of our Savior singing “Holy is our King.”

Danielle

Song: Holy Spirit by Francesca Battistelli

I chose this song because the first time I heard it I was at church and I literally felt the Holy Spirit flood the chapel. Also because o the verse that says “I’ve tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves where my heart becomes free and my shame is in done”. For a long time I held onto shame and the Lord makes us clean and renewed and it is refreshing to be reminded that in his presence we are made clean and so loved.

Song: Closer by Bethal

I have so many songs that I really relate with.  When I was picking my song for tonight this one just really stuck out to me.  The wording reminds me of a love song and it is just so sweet to listen to.  God is so good and I don’t think I will ever fully understand his everlasting love.
