The World Race was so appealing to me from the start because it provided an opportunity for me to dip my feet into so many different types of ministry. Before coming on the Race, I loved thinking about what those opportunities might include:
Some of my assumptions were….
- manual labor
- preaching
- teaching English
- street evangelism
- fighting sex trafficking
- providing medical aid
- leading worship services
- teaching children’s Bible studies
- giving devotionals
- working at orphanages
- and caring for the homeless
…and those assumptions were correct… for the most part.
But this month, I have been chosen for a different type of ministry.
It is a ministry I never expected, and quite frankly, it is one that I never knew I wanted.
BUT… God had a different plan for my race, and all that He has been teaching me through four months of team leading has served to prepare me for this.
From here on out, the rest of my race will look vastly different, but I am excited to trust the Lord with His decision for me to Squad Lead-– I am SO ON BOARD with this new adventure!
Squad leaders “exist to serve the squad and lead them in the areas of spiritual and emotional growth, team health, effective ministry, and pursuit of God.”
Three squad leaders are raised up at the end of the 4th month to carry on this leadership role for the entirety of the race and follow in the footsteps of the two alumni squad leaders who will return to the States at the end of the 5th month on the field.
Jena Foster,
Sam Kirby, and I would greatly appreciate your prayers for unity, wisdom, and a passionate pursuit of Christ as we lead X Squad into all that God has called it to! I could not have asked for a better team of women to lead with, be challenged by, and grow alongside.
Here’s to a new year, a new team, a new ministry, and new beginnings!
P.S.- If you’ve squad led before… what is your best piece of wisdom for the three of us? – Thanks!
Love,
Hanna
