Future Racer,
By now, you're probably wondering why there isn't much information floating around pertaining to training camp. And if you're like me, you're probably concocting some extravagant conspiracy that we, the current racers, are under some sort of secrecy agreement. I'll go ahead and put that rumor to rest. Having now experienced training camp for myself, I can fully understand why the blogs I read were so frustratingly vague.
Training camp is less about what you're going to do and more about what is going to be done in you. So go ahead and drop your expectations. Decide right now that you are going in with reckless abandonment. The only expectation that will come to pass is this one: God is going to show up. And even that will not look the way you expect it to look.
You are going to be uncomfortable. Endure it.
You are going to want to go home. Fight it.
You are going to be annoyed. Get over it.
You are going to be challenged. Accept it.
You are going to be changed. Embrace it.
Don't let your past experiences limit your growth. And don't let them limit your God, either.
Let me tell you a secret: God is not normal. So if you're only willing to love an ordinary, flavorless, powerless God…. reconsider the Race. Because we believe that He is so much more than that.
So there we are. Another vague training camp post. You will thank me later.
