This month’s ministry in Cambodia has changed a few times,
but on Monday, we will begin teaching, loving, and working with previously
sex-trafficked girls in Siem Reap, a city that draws 3 to 4 million tourists to
the breath-taking 12th century ruins of Angkor Wat.

We have planned a schedule and I am in charge of two classes
which ought to be fun, stretches and exercises in the morning and a sports
class in the afternoon. I won’t be pushing these girls, especially with the
heat and humidity, but also because these girls are not used to a schedule or a
team like us-seven women truly wanting the very best for their current and
future well-being.

A friend of a friend (Sarah Freeman) started “Faceless
International,” a non-profit that creates awareness for internationally
sexually-trafficked children and women. I was reminded of one of the pamphlets
on Thursday as my team and I visited a center that protects and cares for girls
who fall into this category. From those pamphlets with vivid pictures to these
people with smiles and joyful spirits, I feel blessed to be able to go beyond
reading about such heart-breaking stories to getting to know these girls, even
if it is through simple activities as dancing, teaching English, sports, bike
rides, and arts and crafts.
