I had my first Skype conversation with my good friend Tyler on Friday (or Thursday, CST.) It was good to semi-catch up on each other’s lives and remind each other of God’s truths in our very different life stages. Or maybe they aren’t very different, but being on the other side of the world and outside of society makes me feel more than a little distant from my Stateside friends.
One of the many conversations we had centered on trusting God with our individual lives. For me, it comes down to trusting God as my identity slips away like the shells on an ocean’s shoreline. Ever so simply, Tyler reminded me that “…all of God’s children have trust issues…especially when it comes to Him.” While I knew and know this, it was a good reminder to me that it is not uncommon for Christ-followers to struggle with trusting Him. Being a part of a tight-knit community and ministry team this month has already begun to stretch me in terms of trusting others and God more and I know that this is just the beginning.
