I am a month deep into my last semester of college, leaving me with (wait for it..) ONLY 3 more months at Florida State. We all know how fast three months can fly by, and I fear that my head and heart will not be fully invested in my last days here in Tallahassee. How can I focus on the present when the future holds something SO big, like leaving home for an entire year? It has been a hard balance. But here is a small dose of reality, life deals us with situations that are hard to balance. We all need to constantly remind ourselves that we are only human. (& if you ask me, I like not having to be perfect)
Personally, I need to be reminded that it is okay to take a break from planning, and enjoy living in the present with those I love. BUT, I also need to know that it is okay to focus on the future (and to complete the ever so daunting “to-do-list”). TRUTH: I am still figuring how to balance these- to live in the present but to also be ready for the future.
Senior year of college has been the best yet and I believe it is because I know who I am. Everyday is a day to live abundantly and to be refreshed of yesterdays struggles. I surround myself with those who love me well and with those who challenge me to be a better person. Whether I spend my day planning my year long trip or spend it laughing with my friends, I call it a success. I call it a success because I followed where my heart wanted to go that day. Regardless of what I did that day, all I hope for is to end the day knowing that I lived it well. The idea here is to fill up each day with things that not only make us who we are, but also who we want to become.
And again, remembering that we are only human. Once we remember that, the pressure is off.
So cheers to 2015, Cheers to friendships & Cheers to future plans!
