Hey friends! So here is some fun news! Through lots of prayers and encouragement, I have made the decision to join the World Race. Leaving September 2015, I will be traveling to 11 countries in 11 months. World Racers are “actively rising to the challenge of seeing the world transformed through tangible expressions of God’s love.” This commitment to leave America for a year to be among cultures that are different from my own was an exciting moment in my life. But it wasn’t just a moment, it was the beginning to an amazing adventure. An adventure to Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13
I am ready to love, to abandon my life of comfort, to join in on an adventure of raw beauty, to laugh hard, to have my faith stretched, to be drained emotionally, to feel the brokenness of others and myself, to be in constant prayer, and to be fully dependent on my heavenly Father.
To travel and see what the world has for you is a beautiful experience. To go somewhere and see the world differently, to meet people who will welcome you into their home (whether it is a mud hut or a pent house), to hear their life stories- it will change you. I say this because I know it to be true.
People are a gift to love.
Deciding to leave my family and friends for a year was the most peaceful decision I have ever made. Not because I won’t miss them (I will MORE than ever), but because I know that the people in these 11 countries are just as worthy of an everlasting hope as I am.
I understand how expensive this journey is and that current situations may not allow you to give. Prayers for my travels and for the people I will meet and call family are just as needed. I want to thank all my family and friends who have supported me in the past through all my adventures, I am forever grateful.
