Let’s be real for a moment.

Who doesn’t struggle?

The answer: No one. Everyone struggles.

My friend and I went on a hike this weekend. It was a struggle, to be honest. It was not as easy as I thought it was going to be, especially for inexperienced “hikers.” We were not very prepared…like, at all. haha

I soon realized that this specific hike was a symbol for my relationship with Jesus. It can probably be compared to most of ours. Before the first mile was over we contemplated giving up. We were already becoming weary of our uphill battle to the top. We asked a couple that we saw what to expect ahead and they told us that we were on the easy part! We paused our footsteps in terror of the unknown challenges ahead. We were not excited to say these least.

We almost decided to turn around and go to an easier, more familiar trail; but in the last second we got a confidence boost that had of come from the Lord. So, we continued trekking forward.

We eventually made it to the first overlook. It was gorgeous!

There, we met a different couple who told us that this spot was only a glimpse of what the very top looked like. I thought about throwing the towel in again, but Hayley’s determination and commitment kept our sore legs climbing.

Finally, after literal rock climbing, 90 degree angled hills (just kidding), slow inclines & a lot of sweat…we reached the top!

The pictures do it no justice. It was beautiful!

Think about your relationship with the Lord.

Have you questioned going back?

Has it been rocky?

Have you been afraid of the unknown?

Have other people’s attitude brought you down?

Have you had an accountability partner?

I know I can answer all of these as, “Yes!”

Even though I’ve thought about turning back, Jesus has kept me forward. I had to persevere through the pain of this hike & through some pain of my past. However, the Lord brought me through and kept His promises. The view is worth the pain. The peacefulness of being atop a mountain that stands over 1,000 feet high is worth it. The Lord will pull you out of your struggles and pain, just hold on. Trust in Him.
