Valentine’s Day is this weekend. It’s supposed to be a time of love and celebration, but what is it truly?
Is it a time for commercialization?
{Yes.}
Is it a time for girl’s to question their self-esteem?
{Yes.}
Is it a time for “couples” to get there hopes up just to be crushed later?
{Yes.}
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been re-evaluating my role in my current relationships, platonic included. I’ve been trying to notice which relationships are more important to me based on the amount of time I spend with that person. Is my boyfriend on the top of my list? Is my girlfriend/Netflix group? Are my classmates & teachers? Is Jesus?
[ Hard questions. ]
A representative came from People To People Ministries and spoke to our college. One thing he said stuck with me. As a culture all about the hustle and bustle, we “run out” of time quite often. However, we tend to make time for things that are important to us. Have I been making time for Jesus? How important is He in my life?
I’ve had to take a hard look at my life. I’ve had to be real with myself. I’m not doing all that I can and should. I’ve got to dig deeper into my spiritual life like I said I’m going to.
Why wouldn’t I want to have a relationship with someone who will never hurt me? He will N E V E R hurt me. He will N E V E R scam me. He will N E V E R charge me a price. He will N E V E R make me question my body. He will A L W A Y S uplift me. He will A L W A Y S direct me along the right pathways. He will A L W A Y S provide for me.
He will A L W A Y S provide for me….even for the Race? Even $16,277 dollars I need for this Race?
{Yes.}
