In 35 days my 11-month journey will be over. In 35 days I step off the plane in Houston, Texas and into the arms of my family and friends. With the end approaching rapidly, the question that is on the lips of everyone, both Racers and loved ones is “what’s next?” What will the future hold for me after these short 35 days?
I’m happy to announce that I actually have an answer to this question. Next month I end my journey as a Racer, but in October I start my journey as an Alumni Squad Leader!
Let me answer a few FAQs about my future plans:
What the heck is a Squad Leader?
A Squad Leader (SQL) is someone who has done the World Race before and then is accepted into a place of leadership to assist another squad of Racers leaving for the World Race. As SQL my job will be to help Racers transition into the World Race lifestyle, mentor and disciple, and assist the Racers in processing.
You mean, you’re going to be gone another 11 months???
Nope. This time I will only be on the field for the first 5 months of the 11-month route. I will lead the squad for 5 months, and then raise up leaders from within the squad to take my place.
So, why are you doing this?
The World Race has grown me. The Lord has shown me new passions and gifts. One of the passions that God has grown in me is the passion for helping people step into true freedom and identity in Christ, and being there with them as the walk through that process. It’s a passion that is not only helpful on the race, but I know the Lord has plans for it in the future. SQL gives me hands-on experience in leading a group of people through a tremendously changing process, and being there to help them navigate the change. I get to be their champion and cheerleader. I get to improve my leadership skills. I get to use my new gifts the Lord has grown in me this year. AND I get to do all of it while traveling the world!
There are so many practical reasons why these 5 months will help my future, but honestly, I am going because I trust my Father. He has told me he has more for me in the next season, and when he tells me he has something good for me, I trust him.
Where are you going?
I actually don’t know where I am going yet, but when I do, I will let all of you know! I am still waiting on my placement for which squad I will be working with, but when I know that, I will know my 5 countries.
Do you need to fundraise?
YES! If you notice, my fundraising bar at the top of my blog has now been changed. I have a new goal. I need $6,500 for this amazing opportunity.
If you have supported me before- THANK YOU. You have made a dream come true for me. Now, comes the hard part, asking for MORE support.
The Lord is good. The money will come. If you are reading this and you want to be part of supporting me, just click the “support me” button on my blog.
Are you excited?
I am SO EXCITED. I can’t wait to meet my new, precious, little Squadlings. I love them more than they know already. I am excited to continue living out the mission of spreading the name of Jesus, and I am excited about what the Lord is going to do in me and through me.
