Every morning our squad walks to Hope Church to have intercession. This is a time where we come together and pray for the community and other ministries that Hope Church has. Usually we spend time praying for local, regional, and international needs. When we were first told that we were going to be having intercession for a couple hours each morning, I have to say I was not super excited. I did not think of this as a valuable ministry for me. I do think prayer is valuable, however we are in Romania now, shouldn’t we be doing things with the people? I can pray in any location, but we are only in Romania for a short amount of time.
Last Friday we prayed specifically for the Orthodox priests in the area and a man named Robert. Robert is a man who was going to convert to Christianity but his Orthodox family talked him out of it. Since then he has been working against the church in Draganesti. He is now friends with the Orthodox priests and even threatens some of the church members. His goal is to break down Hope Church and its influence in the community.
After we prayed for him on Friday, he decided to come to church on Sunday morning. He left early but came back for the evening service and stayed to talk with Pastor Raul. He started asking questions about Christ and converting. While he did not accept Christ that day, he is asking questions again.
I am writing this blog to tell you that prayer is important! God honors the pleas of his people. You may not think that prayer is as important as those who actually go and interact with people, but it is! Robert’s story proves it!
I challenge you to set aside sometime to pour out your requests to God and to thank him for your blessings. Please pray that Robert would continue to seek answers and that God would soften his heart.
