They weren't kidding when they said travel days would be rough. Upon boarding the plane in Chicago, I don't think we fully understood what we were in for…

Beginning of the flight!                                             My plane riding buddies, Alexa and Ryan

We survived the first flight. It was between fifteen and sixteen hours. Just when it seemed it would never end, we looked out the window to see that we were flying over the Arctic Ocean. It was beautiful. Who knew a bunch of ice could be so mesmerizing. Nothing like being amazed by our phenomenal Creator to help pass the time.

Hours later, we arrived in Honk Kong for a five hour layover. I have to say, I enjoyed this part. This was the last time all of K-Squad would be spending time together for over a month. We camped out, wandered around, found Starbucks, did a little dancing and just enjoyed time together.

The flight from Honk Kong to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was pretty uneventful. It was nothing compared to our first flight.

Then finally the time came, we step foot in the our first country of the year. Made it through immigration, collected our bags, and K-squad prepared to go our separate ways.

After saying our goodbyes to K-Squad, be boarded a train to KL Sentral, the train station.

We thought we would just jump right on a train and head to our ministry site. Boy, were we wrong. Come to find out, the first available train would not be leaving for thirteen hours.

What seemed to be a bit of a burden turned into a huge blessing. We had all day to blow….. and we were in the biggest city in Malaysia. We were incredibly blessed to have a few Malaysians (friends of a squad mate) as our tour guides. We went to China Town for Lunch. Then to see the Twin Towers (the tallest twin towers in the world) It was an amazing way to spend our first day in Malaysia, though we voiced often that it didn't feel like the world race as we walked through a ritzy mall drinking the most amazing smoothies ever.

Enjoy these pictures from out day in KL:

Well, we've boarded the train. This train ride has been quite interesting. After being awake for a full 24 hours, the sleep was welcome. Although I didn't expect to awake a loud, singing man. Oh, the stories we already have to tell.

We are headed to Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia. There we will meet our Ministry Host and head to our ministry sight. None of us really know what to expect and look forward to seeing our home for the next month. I know one thing, after three days of travel in the same clothes, I cannot wait for whatever form of a shower awaits me. Actual shower or a bucket full of water, I don't care. Bring it on.
