One day this week as I was driving home from work I found myself in a state of frustration. It was that time of day where everyone was on their way home. I had slept only four hours the night before and all I really wanted was to be home. I started getting worked up over every little thing and began to say and think things out of anger. I've always struggled with a minor case of road rage.. let's just say that I am very easily annoyed while driving. Don't ask me why.. it's just always been a struggle. Anyway… Just when I feel like I'm about to explode, I come back to reality and hear what is playing on my radio. In the background the hymn "Come All Ye Pining" is playing. Here are the lyrics to this song:

 Lord, we adore thy boundless grace,
The heights and depths unknown,
Of pardon, life, and joy, and peace,
In thy beloved Son.

Chorus:  Come, all ye pining, hungry poor,
The Saviour’s bounty taste;
Behold a never-failing store
For every willing guest.

2    O wondrous gifts of love divine,
Dear Source of every good;
Jesus, in thee what glories shine!
How rich thy flowing blood!

4    Here shall your numerous wants receive
A free, a full supply;
He has unmeasured bliss to give,
And joys that never die.

This is a song of worship. It's about coming to the Lord and finding your everything in Him. At that moment I was bursting with anger and frustration, but in the background was a hymn of praise. That got me thinking.. how often in our lives we get so frustrated… so fed up with the small things of this world that really don't matter. All the while we have the Holy Spirit inside of us. We have God who is always with us and around us and yet we spend so much time in stress and allow it to get the best of us.

How often we get caught up in worldly things when the tune of the Spirit is always in us if we so choose to listen.

The hymn playing in the background caught my attention and made me aware of my sin…
May we not get so caught up in the things of the world that we forget the boundless grace and goodness of God that is never failing and is always there for whoever will recieve it.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
(Psalm 19:14 ESV)
