In one of my Old Testament classes this semester we were talking about the Israelites relationship with God. It seems very apparent in the Psalms, for example, that the Israelites expected something from God and they held God to a certain standard because of their shared covenantal relationship. Conversely, in America, we don't seem to expect anything out of God. And if we don't expect anything or hold God to a certain standard in our covenantal relationship with him, is that truely a covenantal relationship?
I thought I would try to integrate this into my faith life. I decided to ask God for a $1,000 or more donation. I wasn't too excited about this and didn't tell anyone, because there was a lot at stake, ie. I could not receive the $1,000. Yesterday, a friend called me and told me she'd like to buy one of my t-shirts. In the envelope, in addition to the check for the t-shirts, was a check for $500, which means she has given me $1,000! On top of that, some wonderful friends decided to sponsor my health insurance for the year! Will wonders never cease?! 😀
Sometimes I wonder whether God micromanages. At times like this, I want to say yes, but that means I have to hold God accountable when things don't turn out, and I'm not sure I'm ready to do that yet. No matter, I'm so grateful and I can't stop smiling when I think about the events of yesterday!! Thank you for all the support!
